The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed the construction of internal roads in nine residential communities stretching 193 km at a cost of about AED 400 million spanning Hatta, Al Quoz 2, 3 and 4, Khawaneej 1, and Barsha 1, 2 and 3. These projects are part of the first and second batch of the 5-Year Plan (2012-2016) endorsed by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the U.A.E. and Ruler of Dubai, covering the pavement of internal roads in several residential districts of the Emirate of Dubai at a total cost of about one billion dirham. The plan underscores the keenness of HH to improve and upgrade internal roads to meet the demographic and urban expansion in the Emirate.
"The RTA completed this year the construction of internal roads in six residential communities. Last March it completed the pavement of internal roads at Al Quoz 3 at a cost of 21.732 million dirham. The project included the construction of roads extending 8 km with a width of 7 meter for collector roads and 6.5 meters for local roads, roadside parking spaces measuring 2.5 meters in width, lighting works, rainwater drainage services, traffic signs, and road markings.
"Last February the RTA completed the construction of internal roads at Al Barsha 1, 2 and 3 situated between the Sheikh Zayed Road to the East, Al Khail Road to the west, Umm Suqeim Road to the north and Street 331 to the south. The Project, which cost 174.5 million dirham, included the pavement of internal roads along with lighting works stretching 116 km including the construction of new roads extending 63 km and improvements of existing roads extending 53 km. In the same month, it concluded the pavement of internal roads Al Quoz 2 at a cost of 37.392 million dirham covering the pavement of roads extending 11 km comprising single and dual carriageways, parallel parking slots, rainwater and sewage drainage networks, lighting works, road marking, traffic signals, and all safety means for road users.
"Last January the RTA completed the pavement of internal roads at Al Khawaneej 1 extending 38 km at a cost of 100 million dirham. The project included the pavement of (main and local) unpaved internal roads in the rest of Al Khawaneej residential district 1 (District 281) including lighting works.
"In the first half of 2013, the RTA completed the construction of internal roads at 3 residential districts including the pavement of internal roads at Al Qusais 3 in May 2013. The project, which cost about 23.5 million dirham, included the pavement of roads extending 6 km along with lighting works, and the pavement of some parking slots at mosques and public schools in the area. In March 2013, it completed the construction of roads extending 8 km at Al Quoz 4. The Project, which cost about 15 million dirham, included road pavement, lighting works, parking, and rainwater drainage services. Last February the RTA completed the pavement of internal roads extending 6 km at Hatta community at a cost of 23 million dirham," elaborated Al Tayer.
Under Construction Al Tayer further added: "Work is up-and-running in internal road projects at six residential areas, and works are expected to be completed this year in the construction of roads at Al Warqaa 1, 2, 3 and 4. Works are set for completion in the first half of next year in the construction of internal roads at Muhaisnah 2, Barsha South 1, and collector roads at Barsha 2. In the last quarter of this year, the RTA will release a tender for constructing internal roads at Mamzer, Nahda 1 and Oud Mateena 2."
