DUBAI - Arabstoday

Dubai: Investments in security systems at Dubai airports are set to increase in the coming years, a senior Dubai Airports official said. Yesterday Dubai Airports and Dubai Police signed a memorandum of understanding further cementing the five-decade partnership between the two organisations. The MoU, which was signed by Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation and Chairman of Dubai Airports, and Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Chief of Dubai Police, is aimed at enhancing the alignment of strategic corporate objectives. "This development will ensure we meet the demand for capacity as well as maintain and improve customer service quality even as we become the world's busiest hub by 2020," said Shaikh Ahmad. Asked if the MoU was aimed primarily at enhancing security at Dubai airport, Shaikh Ahmad told Gulf News: "It is more of a partnership. The future growth at Dubai International Airport will see it reaching about 90 million passenger capacity." He said the police have a difficult job of ensuring passenger safety during time spent at the airport and boarding the aircraft. "The police have a difficult task to complete within a minimum span," he added. Shaikh Ahmad continuted: "All bodies at the airport have to put in a lot of effort to ensure that passengers flying to Dubai International or leaving from here should get the best service  whether it's with regard to security or any other service within the airport."
