Two unidentified gunmen assassinated Director of Security Operations in Aden Colonel Abdel Hakim al Senedi while heading for a security meeting on Sunday.
The gunmen were riding a motorbike when they opened fire on Senedi near Al Mansoura Directorate in Aden killing him instantly, Aden El Ghad newspaper said quoting eyewitnesses.
The incident is the first assassination of a security official in Aden since its liberation in mid-July. No party has claimed responsibility for the attack but is believed to be by al Qaeda given the method used ihttp://en.arabstoday.net/home/also-in-the-news/coalition-pounds-yemen-rebels-sets-sights-on-capital.htmln the killing.
The security committee of Aden Province held a meeting on Saturday and decided to ban the import of motorbikes after the increasing attacks using them prior to the war on the south.
