Dubai Zayed University campus The Emirates Foundation for Youth Development is launching its fifth round of the Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan Higher Education Grant which supports select graduates from both Abu Dhabi and Dubai Zayed University campuses. The vision of this five-year programme, first established in May 2011, is to further the U.A.E.'s efforts of shaping a knowledge-based economy. Under this programme, full Master's or Doctoral scholarships will be awarded to applicants enrolling into leading universities across the U.A.E. or overseas for highly sought-after programmes in education, social studies, tourism, science majors, museum and curatorial studies, as well as healthcare and public administration.
Mohanna Al Muhairi, Chief Operating Officer at Emirates Foundation, said, "The scholarships awarded in previous years experienced great success. We received tremendous feedback from students studying across the U.A.E. and abroad on the learning and confidence they have gained from the selective programmes offered, as well as on the support that they receive through the Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Higher Education Grant. This programme attracts the very best people to become the future leaders in the country." Dr. Mohsen Onsy, Zayed University's Associate Provost and Chief Academic Officer, said, "Scholarships are awarded to academically exceptional students. Their maturity and growth is reflected in their statement of purpose and through their participation in extracurricular community or university activities." The grants cover tuition fees for students studying at selected universities in the U.A.E.. As for overseas grants, they cover tuition fees, including travel and living allowances. To be eligible, students must apply to a university for a Master's degree or PhD studies in 2014, with a minimum Bachelor's degree GPA of 3.0 (from Zayed University), and hold an IELTS of 6.0 or equivalent. Application can be done through the Emirates Foundation website from now until January 7th, 2014. The scholarship is open to candidates above the age of 21. The applicants should have been accepted by or in the process of enrolling into one of the universities within the U.A.E., or the world's top 200 universities that are accredited by the U.A.E. Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
