Grand Sheikh of Al-Azhar, Dr Ahmed al-Tayeb is hosting the event
The Faculty of Mass Communications at Al-Azhar University in Cairo will hold its first international scientific conference titled, \"professional media and democratisation,\" from 14 to 17 April
In a statement, the institution said that the conference will be held under the guidance of Dr Ahmed al-Tayeb, Grand Sheikh of Al-Azhar and Dr Osama Alabed, the president of the university.
The conference will be headed by the faculty\'s dean, Dr Abed al-Sabour Fadel, along with the secretariat Dr Mahmoud Hammad, and vice-dean Dr Arafa Amer. There will also be representatives from the University of Ohio, University of Arizona, the Institute of Cognitive Studies in the United States, the University of Westminster, the Media Diversity Institute in Britain, and the University of Anatolia in Turkey.
The conference aims to monitor and analyse the measures through which the media system works in the Arab media, in addition to understanding the nature of the relationship between the political, economic, social and cultural structures.
It will also look at the role of the media in transforming the limits of its responsibilities, in addition to monitoring and studying the evolution of professional performance in the new media and the effect of professional values of traditional media in the interactive media.
