Famous Bahraini poet Abdulrahman Rafee has passed away at the age of 79, following a long time ailment.
Rafee, who passed away last night, has nine collections of vernacular and standard Arabic poetry to his credit. His poems are widely acclaimed in the Gulf region and throughout the Arab world. He won several literary prizes, including "Hona Al-Bahrain Poetry Contest" award.
Born in 1936, he completed his secondary education in Bahrain and traveled to Egypt where he studied law.
