Algiers - Arabstoday

Bait al Zubair Museum has announced new opening timings for Eid al Fitr holidays. Yesterday the museum was open from 9.30 am to 2.30 pm. It will remain closed on the first day and will re-open on the second day of Eid from 9.30 am to 6 pm as also during the holiday period (except Friday). After Eid, regular opening times will resume from Saturday to Thursday (9:30 am to 6 pm). A museum spokesman said: “We open on most public holidays to give guests who are normally busy at work the opportunity to visit us. We invite guests to discover treasures of Omani heritage in our museum; to examine our collection that spans a number of centuries and represents Oman’s unique identity.” The museum complex consists of four separate buildings to explore. Bait al Bagh (house of gardens) and Bait al Oud (grand house) are where one can find the museum’s collections and temporary exhibitions. Then there is Bait al Dalaleel, a restored and renovated old house that enables visitors to step back in time to see how Omanis lived over a century ago. Across from Bait Dalaleel is the museum’s gift shop, here you can see unique ranges of handicrafts, books, postcards, jewellery, scarves, clothing, key chains, magnets, candles, soaps and perfumes which are all selected to represent Oman and the museum collection. In addition to special Eid cards, artwork and heritage-themed gifts are available in the new gift shop — a destination in itself.
