Kuwait - KUNA

Kuwait Oil Co. (KOC) has launched a million dollar campaign to inform students of the importance of oil as a treasured national wealth, said the company's public relations director Sami Al-Juhaim at a press conference held here on Wednesday to promote the campaign. The information campaign (dubbed Nabdh in Arabic or Pulse in English) is targeting 1020 students from 24 different schools and is composed of four separate stages, he said, explaining that the first stage involves teaching high schoolers basic information about the oil sector in Kuwait and how it operates, to be taught by 24 KOC staff members. This initial stage should last three weeks. The second stage, lasting one week, involves students competing to win in a large contest set by the company, said Shamlan Al-Bahar, director of Protoges Mentor company, in charge of carrying out the information campaign. The third stage, lasting three weeks, requires the students to dig deep in their minds to come up with creative ideas of wide public benefits, he said, noting that the fourth stage is a treat for all the students for having gone through the first three stages. It enables them to have a week-long visit to the city of Masdar in Abu Dhabi where they will be informed about alternative energy and its future uses, said Al-Bahar.
