Wellington - Arab Today

A US based organization is reportedly aiming at transforming education by introducing ways in which children will get to choose their learning path based on their dreams. According to Stuff.co.nz, the US' Future Project takes its inspiration from Google which funds dreaming in the form of ''20 percent time' whereby employees are encouraged to spend a day a week on projects not necessarily within their job descriptions. Dreaming is considered as an essential tool for problem solving and creativity and 'Dream director' of the Future Project, Tim Shriver said that when human beings are passionate and exploring their dreams and when those things become a part of a person's life, they can do the impossible. The project also draws inspiration from Daniel H. Pink, whose book Drive argues that projects driven by 'intrinsic motivation' referring to a passion that comes from within are the most successful and autonomy, mastery and purpose are the keys to success. The report said that The Future Project is so far mentoring 1000 students. Some schools have introduced a 'genius hour', a form of 20 percent time, for students to pursue passion-inspired projects, the report added.
