Shanghai stocks dropped more than five percent in late afternoon trading Monday on continued worries over China's weak economy, dealers said.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index plunged 5.02 percent, or 160.08 points, to 3,026.33. The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, tumbled 6.46 percent, or 127.79 points, to 1,850.93.
