Two robotic spacecraft blasted off on a Russian rocket from the Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on Monday as part of a European-Russian unmanned space mission to sniff out leads to life on Mars.
Russia's Proton rocket launched at 0931 GMT according to plan, an AFP correspondent reported. ExoMars 2016, planned by the European Space Agency (ESA) and Moscow's Roscosmos, is the first of a two-phase Mars exploration aiming to answer questions about the existence of life on the Red planet.
