The death toll in a Pakistani Taliban attack on an air force base in the country's northwest on Friday has climbed to 29, a chief military spokesman said.

"At least 29 people have been martyred -- 23 from air force, three from army and three civilians," Major General Asim Bajwa, the chief military spokesman, told a press conference.

He said that 29 people were also wounded when up to 14 militants attacked the air force base entrance with rocket launchers, hand grenades and gunfire.
